R-Stamp Repairs Available Now!

TAMPA, FL September 10, 2019 – Over the last year we’ve launched Quala Maintenance in response to customer demands in specific markets within the US. Providing a solution to a niche market called “Light Maintenance”, our team is constantly communicating with customers to decide what should be added to our diverse list of maintenance offerings. 

“We are not looking to compete with experienced maintenance shops on a national level, but our customers have reached out to us requesting that we provide simpler maintenance services that help keep their rigs on the road,” states Jerry Stafford, VP of Quala Maintenance. “Deciding what services make the cut can be difficult, but we don’t have the space to keep our maintenance bays stagnant. If a job is estimated to take over a few weeks to complete, our team will typically avoid it.”

Recently, the team has added the R-Stamp certification to their list of light maintenance services. The R-Stamp is a certification that is approved by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and National Boiler & Pressure Vessel, allowing the team to perform welding repairs on vessels. Generally, for pit repairs, the process can take a couple of days to repair a couple of hundred pits plus HM testing/inspections. Larger pit repair services can take up to 3 or 4 days to complete plus HM testing/inspections with no backlog. If your container has 1,000 or more pits, it can take 1-2 weeks to complete. Cracks in the barrel of the tank and other minor barrel repairs require an R-Stamp certification and are typically completed in a single day, depending on the extent of the damage. Depending on the vessel, our team may also require or recommend a tank buffing. Tank buffing is needed sometimes after a tank wash that scrapes out a tank, has stains, or other imperfections.

If your team is interested in scheduling a service, the first step would involve scheduling an inspection. Typically the customer is unaware of any damage until the Internal Inspection is performed.  Most of our shops only have one R-Stamp qualified welder on site, so we suggest contacting a manager at our location a week or two in advance so they can coordinate with your drivers and make this services as convenient as possible. All of our facilities have an email address unique for their local shops. This email serves as their primary means of communication. A documented email record of service is our team’s preferred method of communication. If you happen to be traveling and cannot access your email, feel free to call our shops and ask our employees to send you an email of your service request.
