Coronavirus Update
From our VP of EHS – Brian Bolinger
As we all continue to feel the increased impact of CoVID-19 in our communities, we hope you and your families continue practicing the basic precautions spelled out by the CDC and the additional guidance Quala has shared through the last several weeks. We understand that the number of correspondences can be overwhelming and at times confusing but we hope you understand the challenges of this ever-changing situation. We hope you can see that all guidance is centered around your safety and the continued efforts to provide responsible service to our customers. Please see the below update on where we are storing internal communications, new group gathering and meeting policy and our attempt to provide a safer interaction with our customers and location visitors.
Group Gatherings and Meetings Policy
Effective immediately we are instituting this strict Group gathering and Meeting policy:
The following guidelines are taking into account that EVERYONE shall practice community spread, which requires keeping a 6 foot distance from each other:
1. Discourage all in-person meetings – use teleconferencing. This includes face to face meetings with visitors, vendors, contractors and customers, if at all possible.
2. All daily required Quala personnel meetings shall be altered to meet the guidance below (ex: Tool Box Talks, etc..).
- All meetings, training sessions and Kaizen events that require hands-on and physical interaction between the attendees shall be postponed until further notice.
- Encourage limiting the number and frequency of in-person meetings conducted.
- Limit the duration of the meeting (30 minutes max).
- Use the largest room available.
- Limit Size of the group in a meeting, which ever is the least of the following:
- No more than 10 people in one meeting keeping 6 foot of distance from others
- No greater than 50% of the work group or functional department in any one meeting
- A meeting room shall have 30 minutes of non-use between any consecutive meeting (to allow for proper cleaning between meetings)
External Customer Communication and Interaction
As part of our newly enhanced protocols, our locations have heightened their cleaning and disinfecting procedures to maintain a healthy environment for our customers and employees. We’ve instructed anyone who is not feeling well to stay home out of an abundance of caution and self-monitor their symptoms. In addition to following CDC guidance, all terminals have implemented additional preventative measures to ensure the wellbeing of all.
Effective Monday, March 16th, we ask that all customers cooperate with our hopes to minimize face to face interaction with our employees. A few things that can help is the use of electronic sharing of the Drop Sheet and other required documentation. In addition to that, we will be closing our Driver Lounges in terminals that such lounges are located in common areas shared by our Quala employees.

A version of this cooperative messaging and links will be sent to all customers, please be patient and respectful to those that are not aware of this change.
Thank you in advance for your patience as we navigate this challenging situation one day at a time and determine how best to continue serving our communities, while maintaining our focus where it belongs – on our employees and valued customers’ safety and overall well being.
