Does Quala’s waste water management adhere to EPA standards?
At Quala, we are proud to be good stewards on the world in which we live. All work performed is in accordance with EPA standards, the Clean Water Act and in full compliance with the National Pollution Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) and local Publicly Owned Treatment Works. In addition, a number of our locations have commercial waste water treatment sites to service customers outside of normal cleaning operations. What does it cost to dispose of any waste or heel left in the tank? Where does it go?
Based on the nature of the waste material, hazardous or non-hazardous, different rates may apply to the disposal by region. Quala has partnered with the leading environmental service firms in North America to ensure proper disposal of all waste generated at our facilities. Strict compliance with environmental laws is adhered to in this process. The final waste disposal destination can vary by product, but every effort is made to recycle or fuel blend to minimize the effect on our environment.
How long does it usually take to clean a typical tank or container?
Each cleaning process varies depending on the nature of the product being cleaned, the condition of the product when it arrives at one of our locations and the interior condition of the tank itself. Some products are relatively easy to clean and may only require water and/or steam to clean. Other products may require more complicated processes to get the interior completely clean. In general, a typical clean will take about 2 hours to complete from the time it is in the cleaning station to the final check and completion.
What will you use to clean the tank or container?
Each Quala location has a variety of cleaning processes and methods. The process used to clean a tank depends on the type of container, characteristics of the last product contained in the tank and what will be loaded into it next. It could be a simple detergent clean to a more complicated process involving chemical agents applied to the tank interior followed by timed wash cycle, water rinse, and hand labor, if necessary.
How much will it cost to clean my tank or container?
The cost for cleaning varies by regional location and the product to be cleaned. Each cleaning process has a base price plus any additional services required. How do I know if you can clean the last product in my tank or container?
Quala is the most experienced tank and container cleaning company in the U.S. With over 12,000 proprietary formulations, most of our locations are capable of cleaning a vast variety of products. This extensive library is an integral part of every cleaning and ensures your tank or container is cleaned in the most efficient and environmentally friendly manner. To be certain that a particular location is capable of cleaning the product, please supply the MSDS/SDS sheet associated with the last load to the Quala Facility Manager.

How many locations does Quala have across the country?
Currently, Quala has over 55 cleaning locations along the most active transportation routes and in nine of the top ten busiest ports in the U.S.
Do you offer special cleaning needs such as Food Grade and Kosher?
Yes, we have over 23 locations that offer food grade and/or kosher cleaning. For a detailed list of services offered, please refer to our website.
In addition to tank cleaning, do you do maintenance, testing and repairs?
Yes, Quala has over 75 years experience to provide you with all the necessary services including tank, IBC, ISO cleaning, testing, repair and maintenance, tracking and management. Quala also provides specialized services pertaining to rail car cleaning, frac/box tank cleaning and commercial waste water treatment and disposal.
What type of IBCs does Quala clean and are there any products you cannot clean?
Quala cleans all types of IBCs including stainless steel, carbon steel, rotationally molded poly and composite poly. Quala has few product limitations, but to ensure cleaning capabilities, please supply an MSDS/SDS sheet associated with the product to the Quala Facility Manager. The MSDS/SDS will be reviewed and matched to the most effective and safe cleaning formulation available.
Does Quala offer IBC DOT/UN retesting?
Yes, Quala offers both 2.5 year periodic retesting and 5 year thickness testing in accordance with 49 CFR 173.32 & 180.352.
I buy composite IBCs and use them one time. Can Quala clean these to allow me to extend the life of the IBC?
Yes, Quala cleans and certifies composite iBCs for reuse at several locations. Each IBC cleaned receives the Quala 10-point quality inspection.
Does Quala sell replacement parts for IBCs?
Yes, Quala stocks and sells a range of DOT approved parts for IBCs.
I do not know where all of my IBCs are in my supply chain. Can I gain visibility for my IBC fleet?
Quala offers a proprietary, internet-based, IBC tracking/management solution that accepts a variety of data capture technologies to support you in your supply chain management requirements.
Why does my invoice have an energy surcharge?
Energy costs have shown to be volatile from time to time. Rather than continually adjusting base cleaning rates to compensate for this variable, we include a nominal surcharge if applicable. This surcharge is based on last year’s average of the Henry Hub Natural Gas Spot Price. If the Henry Hub Natural Gas price rises above a certain amount determined each year, an energy surcharge is added to each invoice. However, if the spot rate falls below this amount, no surcharge will be added. Do you offer any driver incentives?
